Xmas Party 2022 @ DES

The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear and… dance!!!

DES is where giving and loving are more than words; they are actions!

Des is where giving and loving are more than words; they are actions!
As part of the Christmas celebrations, our students participated in the spirit of giving and solidarity by creating their own Christmas boxes for the children of PIKPA. This action took place through the organization Tandem and on the initiative of a member of the group and the mother of a student of our school.

5 Special Xmas missions @ DES kindergarten

Just before Christmas closure: Five special missions at DES kindergarten.

DES @ Vouliagmeni Church Orphanage :”It’s time to give” Christmas is a time for loving, spreading joy and giving back to those in need.

Teaching kids to give and help those in need can benefit the children and the recipients of their kindness.
Develops empathy: When children learn to give to others and help those in need, they learn to understand and feel the emotions of others. This can help them develop empathy, which is the ability to understand and share the feelings of others.
Encourages a sense of community: When children learn to give and help others, they realise they are a part of a larger community. This can help them feel connected to others and encourage a sense of belonging.
Encourages prosocial behaviour: Giving and helping others is prosocial, which benefits both the person giving and the person receiving. Children who learn to engage in prosocial behaviour may be more likely to continue it as they grow older.
Builds self-esteem: When children feel good about themselves and their actions, it can boost their self-esteem. By helping and giving to others, children may feel a sense of pride and accomplishment, which can contribute to their overall understanding of self-worth.
Increases feelings of gratitude: When children learn to give to others, they may also be more likely to appreciate what they have. This can increase feelings of appreciation, which can positively impact well-being.

Secret Santa 2022 @ DES

“Nope. Can’t Tell. Won’t Tell. It is a Secret. Just open your gift and Enjoy.”

We could never ask for something more than our students’ smiles and joy. This secret Santa brought a lot of smiles to our children’s faces, who could not wait to read their new books!

A festive day in the heART of Athens- visit at the Municipal Gallery of Athens and clay creations at the studio!

It was such a delightful occasion that my students from the primary school visited my art studio in Athens for a Saturday full of creative fun! The art studio is my cocoon where all the creative brewing takes place, and I was happy to open it up and share it with my students by organising this creative event.
With the Christmas holidays coming soon, we celebrated on a Saturday morning in my studio next to the beautiful Avdi Square. After we sent the parents off to enjoy a sunny stroll, we visited the exhibition of George Ioannou at the Municipal Gallery of Athens. The students made sure to note and sketch their inspirations from the exhibition, taking them back to the studio.

Following up, the students made their inspired paintings on ceramic plates! The resulting creations varied from abstract to figurative, black and white to splashes of colour! Things got messy with paint… but this didn’t stop us from getting even messier! After finishing our plates, we also made ceramic sculptures.

Unsurprisingly.. the parents got jealous and came back asking to participate..!

What a great way to spend the last weekend before we close off for the winter holidays, and how inspiring to see young artists create. We wish you all a merry and creative holiday!

ENGLISH THEATRE IS IN OUR LIVES! “CINDERELLO”

A hilarious adaptation of the classic fairy tale, starring a young boy who undergoes unbearable injustice and is redeemed.

Poor Cinderello is bullied by his awful sisters and has to do all the housework.
Let alone that he is not invited to the ball!
Magic – Interactive -Songs- Dance – Fun

DES goes to the Greek National Opera – “The magic pillows”

“In a faraway and mythical land, a greedy lord, Arpatilaus the First, determined to increase the production of emeralds in his country, abolishes birthday parties, Halloween, summer holidays, all holidays, even Sundays, which they are renamed, on his orders, to “Prodeuteres” and …”

We watched the show “Magic Pillows” spellbound.
The famous, multi-translated and multi-award-winning work of Evgenios Trivizas, after a long career as a novel and a play, is adapted by the author himself for the first time into an opera for the whole family. George Dousis’s music, rich in emotions, delightfully wanders through the dazzling palaces, poor schools and turbulent emerald mines of Ouranoupoli, bringing to life a set of spartan characters. At the same time, the direction of Natasa Triantafyllis searches for the poetic core and the liberating power of a liberating and inexhaustible classic fairy tale.

Opera Provides Optimum Benefits for Children
While music, dance and design are more apparent skills developed in opera, some more elusive ones include communication, listening, creative problem-solving, empathy, confidence and resourcefulness.
