Explorers and seafarers: Messages in bottles full of mystery and adventure

Year 5 has successfully wrapped up its summative project! Following their research on renowned explorers and crafting imaginative letters that blend facts and fiction, our Year Five students have successfully concluded their initial IB unit, centred on seafarers and explorers. To mark the end of this project, they placed their weathered-looking letters inside glass jars, setting the stage for a treasure hunt within the school grounds. Ultimately, the “treasure” turned out to be the glass jars themselves, found floating in the school pond, thanks to the collaborative efforts of the St2 group, who skillfully retrieved the messages from the water-filled bottles.! Year 5 students also had the opportunity to present all the above to their senior group, which offered opportunities for reflection to both groups.
