DES is a school with a humanitarian, democratic and modern character that cultivates a broader education and perceptions of life.
The educational material is adapted to experiential learning, experiments, discovery, and differentiation, which make learning enjoyable for the children. The enriched learning procedure, the modern pedagogical methods based on the “International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme”, the “Theory of Multiple Intelligences” (H. Gardner, Harvard University), and advanced methods of knowledge transfer, create a learning environment that increases the children’s abilities. STEM, physical education, music, foreign languages, emotional education, philosophy, rhetoric, science, mathematics, and art, compose our programme.
And all this in the bilingual environment of an IB World School!
Fostering collaboration, responsibility, engendering group loyalty and social and emotional learning are the primary characteristics of the DES House system.
The development of students’ capacity for collaboration, teamwork, loyalty and team spirit, self-confidence, self-discipline and sustained effort for the attainment of goals in the framework of inter-house sporting and academic competitions, directly correlate with the promotion of interpersonal, intrapersonal, bodily-kinaesthetic intelligence and naturalistic intelligence.

The STEM Elite Club after-school programme offers children the opportunity to explore robotics, engineering, and programming through hands-on activities. Using tools such as LEGO WeDo 2.0, LEGO SPIKE, BBC micro: bit, and Arduino, students engage in fun and accessible learning experiences designed to spark curiosity in computer science and engineering. Students will learn to assemble fully programmable robots, vehicles, and other creations that are coded—primarily through visual block-based programming languages—to perform tasks or solve real-world problems. These activities introduce fundamental concepts in mechanics, automation, and coding, while also fostering teamwork and communication.
The programme is structured to support all levels of learners, from beginners to advanced, enabling students to build their knowledge and skills progressively. Through collaborative projects, students not only strengthen problem-solving abilities and logical reasoning but also develop creativity, resilience, and a passion for STEM. In addition, the STEM Elite Club prepares and trains students to participate in international STEM competitions, giving them opportunities to showcase their talents, apply their learning in competitive settings, and gain global exposure.
This after-school programme is designed to inspire a lasting interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, equipping students with skills for the future.
